‘The Yin Yang’ is Timmy Marten’s debut solo recording from London and New Zealand.

For the last year Tim has been travelling, performing and writing songs across Australia, New Zealand, America, Canada and Europe.

Tim has been the front man and songwriter for North Australian band Neo since its inception in the year 2000. His strong voice and innovative writing style has led the band to support gigs for the likes of John Butler, The Violent Femmes and Paul Kelly and accolades such as the Northern Territory University Battle of the Bands Winner and Best Live Emerging Act in the Northern Territory two years in a row.

Still performing with Powerfunk band Neo upon his return to Australia later this year, Tim’s solo music retains some of the funk-rock edge but also ventures out into powerful, contemporary folk, indie-blues and soul.

Based on the Taoist philosophy of balance between light and dark or the polar opposite, ‘The Yin Yang’ is at once contemporary-political and emotionally-philosophic.
